Heavy Rains to Continue in Kerala; IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Several Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted that heavy rains will continue across Kerala in the coming days. A yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta districts. A yellow alert has also been declared for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki districts for November 17th.
Fishing and Wind Warnings
The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the Kerala–Lakshadweep coasts today due to rough sea conditions. However, fishing is permitted along the Karnataka coast as no adverse weather has been reported there. Strong winds with speeds of 35–45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, and rough sea conditions are expected in several coastal areas.

Strong winds and rough seas likely over the southwest Bay of Bengal.
November 15–17, 2025:
The Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar, and adjoining Kanyakumari areas may experience strong winds (35–45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph) and rough weather conditions.
The IMD has urged fishermen and coastal residents to exercise utmost caution during this period.
