IMD Advises Fishermen to Stay Ashore as Rough Sea Conditions, Rain Hit Kerala Coast; Yellow Alert in 3 Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of widespread rainfall across Kerala under the influence of a low-pressure area and associated cyclonic circulation.


According to the IMD, light to moderate rain accompanied by thundershowers and strong winds with speeds of up to 40 kmph is likely at isolated places in several districts. A Yellow Alert has been issued today for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki districts.


The department has also advised fishermen not to venture into the sea along the Kerala–Lakshadweep coast today. Strong winds with speeds ranging from 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph at times, along with rough sea conditions, are expected in these areas. Authorities have urged coastal residents and fishermen to exercise caution.

Strong winds reaching 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph at times, and adverse weather conditions are likely along the south Sri Lanka coast.
