High Court to Hear Petition Against Screening of 'Kerala Story 2' Today

Kochi: The High Court will hear the petition today seeking the cancellation of the censor certificate for the film Kerala Story 2, alleging that it portrays Kerala and a certain community negatively.
The petition will be heard by a bench headed by Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas. The court, which considered the petition, had issued notices to the central government, the censor board, and the producers.
Sreedev Namboothiri, a native of Kannur, approached the court citing provocative dialogues and untrue scenes in the film. Today’s court action is crucial, as the release of the film is scheduled for the 27th of this month.
The court will examine whether the movie promotes communal hatred and whether it violates cinematography laws. The film industry and political circles are eagerly awaiting the court's decision on the second part, as the first part caused major controversies and legal battles.
At the same time, it has become clear that none of the 37 women who were brought to a press conference in Delhi by crew members, claiming to be victims of Love Jihad, are from Kerala. This has strengthened the accusation that the film’s goal is solely to insult Kerala by presenting a completely misleading narrative.
