CPI(M) Madayi Area Secretary V Vinod Passes Away After Battle With Cancer

Kannur: V Vinod, Area Secretary of the CPI(M) Madayi Area Committee, passed away on Sunday morning at 5 o'clock after a period of treatment for cancer. He was a dedicated party worker whose organisational contributions spanned over three decades across Kannur district.
Vinod served as CPI(M) Madayi Local Secretary for 14 years beginning in 2000, and subsequently as Local Secretary of CPI(M) Kunhimangalam North for a period before being elevated to Madayi Area Secretary in December 2023.
Over the course of his political life, Vinod held a wide range of responsibilities within the Left movement — including Kannur District President of Balasangham, SFI District President, SFI District Secretary, SFI State Secretariat Member, DYFI District Executive Member, Balasangham District Patron Secretary, and Shishu Ksheema Samithi District Secretary. He also served as a member of the Madayi Grama Panchayat.
Vinod rose to prominence during the turbulent student politics of the 1990s, when he steered the SFI's Kannur district unit with courage and resolve through a particularly volatile period. He later channelled that same organisational acumen into consolidating CPI(M)'s presence in the Madayi Local area, playing a decisive role in strengthening the party in strongholds previously dominated by rival forces.
