Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI(M) has strongly condemned the opposition’s recent actions, which included an attack on the official residence of Health Minister Veena George and the disruption of public programs. The party stated that it cannot stand idly by while such "atrocities" are carried out. Reports suggest that opposition protesters attempted to break the gate of the minister’s house, entered the premises, placed wreaths, damaged police vehicles, and even attacked police officers.

The CPI(M) accused the opposition of attempting to create riots across the state, and destabilize Kerala by inciting violence. “For the past ten years, Kerala has been governed by a system focused on welfare and development without resorting to disruptive protests,” the party stated. It states that those dissatisfied with the government's success is trying to create unrest through unnecessary protests.

The CPI(M) emphasized that neither the LDF nor the government has ever taken an intolerant stance towards democratic protests. The party noted that communists have historically risen through fierce protests and sacrifices but have always adhered to peaceful and democratic methods. It was pointed out that during the UDF regime, public health centers were in poor condition. The CPI(M), at that time, had led mass protests, but never resorted to personally attacking ministers or laying wreaths at their homes — which they deemed undemocratic.

Highlighting the government's achievements, the statement emphasized the vast improvements in Kerala's public health sector. The state now boasts hospitals with state-of-the-art facilities, and for the first time in India, liver and heart transplants are being performed in government hospitals. This progress has naturally attracted lakhs of people seeking treatment. Despite occasional isolated errors, the government has taken strict action against any mishaps, including investigating the incidents.

The CPI(M) also noted that Kerala's surgery error rate is among the lowest.

The party also accused a section of the media of exaggerating incidents and spreading misunderstandings that could push Kerala towards unrest. The CPI(M) called for the media to stop propagating harmful narratives and to avoid turning the state into a target for baseless accusations.

The statement also urged all stakeholders to maintain peace and cooperate in preserving Kerala’s atmosphere of progress and stability.

The CPI(M) state secretariat reaffirmed that the government is committed to maintaining a peaceful and thriving Kerala, urging everyone to support the government's efforts and counter divisive forces.
