Justice Will Be Ensured for Ram Narayan Bhayyal’s Family: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Palakkad: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said the state government would ensure justice for the family of Ram Narayan Bhayyal, who was killed in a mob assault at Walayar in Palakkad district. In a Facebook post, the Chief Minister said strict action would be taken against those responsible for the crime.
A special investigation team led by the Palakkad Superintendent of Police is probing the incident. Chief Minister said directions have been issued to examine all aspects of the case and to take appropriate legal action. He also said the government would assess the situation and ensure suitable compensation for the victim’s family.
Terming the incident unacceptable, the CM said such acts tarnish the reputation of a progressive society like Kerala. He stressed the need for collective vigilance to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
The mob assault occurred at Attappallam in Walayar on Wednesday evening. Five people, including four BJP workers, have been arrested so far in connection with the case.
Bhayyal, a native of Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, had arrived in Palakkad about a week ago in search of employment at the KINFRA industrial area in Kanjikode. The accused allegedly assaulted him after branding him a thief.
When Bhaiyal told the group that he had come in search of his sister, the attackers allegedly shouted at him, accusing him of having entered the country illegally from Bangladesh, before launching a brutal assault.
Despite the fact that some of the attackers understood Hindi and were able to comprehend what Bhaiyal was saying, they continued to beat him. A video of the assault later surfaced on social media. Police surgeon Dr. Hitesh Shankar, who conducted the post-mortem examination, said Bhayyal had sustained injuries all over his body. The assault took place around 6 pm on Wednesday, and Bhayyal died later that night.
