Thiruvananthapuram: CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam has publicly ridiculed a news channel for spreading misinformations on election outcomes immediately after polling concluded in Kerala, calling out what he described as a baseless and mischievous report attributed falsely to the CPI.

The fake news, circulated by the Reporter TV news channel, claimed that CPI candidates J Chinchurani and K Rajan — contesting from Chadayamangalam and Ollur respectively — had faced tough competition and were unlikely to win, presenting it as the CPI's own internal assessment. The report further claimed that the two ministers, who were among seats the LDF was confident of winning, would not make it to the legislature.

Binoy Viswam responded with sharp sarcasm, noting that the channel had the remarkable ability to announce the findings of a committee meeting that began at 11.15 am as breaking news at 10.30 am — before the meeting had even started. He concluded his Facebook post with a pointed sign-off, offering his respects to those who had unleashed such journalists on the public.
