Minister Bindu Krishna's Staff Files Complaint Over Viral 'Birnani' Troll

Kollam: The personal staff of Minister Bindu Krishna have filed a complaint with the DGP alleging that a widely circulated social media troll claiming Shanku — the child who went viral for demanding biryani at his anganwadi — had been suspended from the anganwadi for trolling the minister, is fake news. The complaint was filed by Minister Bindu Krishna's Assistant Private Secretary B Trideep Kumar, who has sought strong legal action against those spreading the content.
The sequence of events leading to the troll began when Minister Bindu Krishna, at a press conference, claimed that Shanku was the grandson of Radhamani, the Mahila Congress district secretary from Chavara, Kollam. Shanku promptly responded with a video on Instagram setting the record straight, saying he was not Radhamani chechi's grandson at all and naming his actual grandmothers — Omana and Reena Thankappan. The video went massively viral, triggering widespread trolling of the minister. Among the most viral pieces of content was the troll claiming Shanku had been suspended from his anganwadi — which the minister's office is now characterising as fake news and seeking legal action over.
It is worth noting that the troll in question was clearly satirical content, not a news report. Critics have pointed out that filing a complaint over an obvious troll, rather than addressing the minister's own factual error that sparked the ridicule, has only deepened the controversy.
Shanku had originally shot to fame after his video demanding biryani and fried chicken instead of upma at his anganwadi went viral, prompting then Minister Veena George to revise the food menu at anganwadis across Kerala.
