Kochi: The Kerala High Court has rejected a plea filed by the accused, who are Popular Front and Campus Front activists, seeking a closed court trial in the case related to the murder of Maharaja's College student and former SFI leader Abhimanyu. The appeal was filed against the order of the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court.

The accused had sought a closed-door trial by restricting the entry of the media and the public. The prosecution opposed the plea, arguing that the defence was attempting to delay the trial proceedings.

Justice C S Dias subsequently upheld the order of the trial court.

The trial in the case will begin on October 15. There are a total of 16 accused in the case. Abhimanyu was killed by Popular Front and Campus Front activists on July 2, 2018.
