Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI M state secretariat has stated that the act of the Railways making school children sing a song about building a Hindu Rashtra (Hindu nation) during the inauguration of the Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express is unconstitutional. The party condemned the incident, calling it an extremely reprehensible, vile, and anti-democratic attempt to use children for communal propaganda.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off the Vande Bharat service from Varanasi, the children were made to sing the RSS’s Gana Geetam under the guise of a patriotic song. The RSS, which stayed away from the freedom struggle, assassinated the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and refuses to respect the Indian Constitution and the national flag, cannot claim to represent patriotism. Their song, the CPI M said, does not evoke patriotism but rather spreads hatred and division.
The party added that the Railways, an institution that played a crucial role in shaping the idea of India, is now being misused to divide people. Just as the Raj Bhavan has previously been used to promote communal agendas in Kerala, this too is part of a similar effort to communalise a state known as a stronghold of secularism. The CPI M state secretariat called upon all secular and democratic-minded citizens to register strong protests against this act.
