LDF Announces Initial Candidate List for Cochin Corporation Local Body Elections

Kochi: LDF released initial list for the candidates running for the local body elections from Cochin corporation. During the press conference, CPI (M) district secretary S Sathish announced candidates for 70 divisions out of 76. Candidates from Poonithura, Mattancherry, Girinagar, Kadavanthra, Perumanoor, and Panampally Nagar will be announced in a different date.

Out of the 70 seats, where candidates were announced, CPI (M) will be contesting in 58 seats. Meanwhile CPI will field candidates in 6 seats. Kerala Congress (M) and NCP will each in one seat. For Kalvathi, and Island North divisions, the front will introduce independent left candidates. Janata Dal (S) will contest from 2 divisions as well.

During the press conference, district secretary S Sathish said that the front has successfully implemented rapid and visionary changes and developments during their last tenure. He also added that UDF has not been able to raise a single allegation of corruption about the administration.

A comprehensive development report has already been prepared and distributed to households, Satheesh said.
