U.S. Justice Department May Review Files After Removing Statements Against Trump

Washington: The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating allegations that President Donald Trump intentionally withheld critical statements in the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. The department announced its own investigation following allegations of serious misconduct.
A woman involved in the Epstein case told the FBI that Donald Trump and Epstein sexually assaulted her when she was a minor in the 1980s. Her statement was recorded four times in 2019. However, the recently released 3 million-page document contains only one interview transcript; the other three interviews have been removed. This forms the basis of the allegation.
According to the Department of Justice, the investigation was launched after complaints from the media and the public about the missing documents. The department also stated that if any documents were illegally withheld, they would be published immediately.
The allegation that statements against Trump were deliberately omitted is serious. There are also claims that the names, email addresses, and nude photos of victims were not properly redacted when the documents were released, leading to complaints that more than 100 people were humiliated in this way.
