Washington DC: Following the invasion of Venezuela, US President Donald Trump has openly declared the objective behind the operation. Trump stated that the United States would sell between 30 and 50 million barrels of high-quality Venezuelan oil, and that the money from the sale would be controlled by him in his capacity as US President. Trump made the statement through a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Trump instructed Energy Secretary Chris Wright to implement the plan immediately. The oil will be transported directly to the United States by ship from Venezuela, and the US will sell the oil at market prices, Trump said.

The move comes after Trump' illegal incursion and abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, who were taken into custody. The oil sale is seen as part of the larger objective of plundering Venezuela’s national assets, which critics say lay at the heart of the US invasion.

Meanwhile, Delcy Rodrguez, who was sworn in as interim president, assured the Venezuelan people that she would do everything possible to defend the country’s sovereignty. The Bolivarian National Armed Forces declared their unwavering support for the interim president. Defense Minister General-in-Chief Vladimir Padrino Lopez said the armed forces would stand firmly with Rodriguez in the difficult task facing the nation. The military remains on constant alert to thwart any new coup attempts.

At the international level, members of the UN Security Council, including US allies, strongly condemned the American action. Mexico, Denmark, and France openly rejected the US move. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights criticized the United States, stating that it had trampled upon international law and human rights.

Protests against Trump have erupted across the world. Demonstrations were organized by trade unions, student and youth organizations, and social groups. Thousands took to the streets in Belgium, Cuba, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Italy, France, and Spain. Large-scale protests were also reported within the United States, marking a significant public backlash against Trump.
