Trump Warns Ukraine on Peace Plan as Russia Responds Positively

Geneva: U.S. President Donald Trump has said that the proposed peace plan for the Russia-Ukraine war is “not the final offer,” but warned that if Ukraine refuses to accept the agreement, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would be left to “fight as he wishes.” Washington is continuing to pressure Kyiv to approve the proposal by November 27.
While Russia has responded positively to the plan, Ukraine has not yet issued any supportive response.
As part of efforts to refine the terms of the proposal, senior security officials from Ukraine, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany are meeting in Geneva to discuss possible improvements.
Zelenskyy described the current situation as “one of the most difficult moments in our history,” reacting cautiously to the terms of the plan. The Ukrainian military is under severe strain as Russian forces continue to advance, and the country is facing what officials say is the harshest winter since the war began.
On the sidelines of the G20 summit in South Africa, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer held talks, reiterating that Ukraine’s borders must not be altered by force. Most European Union member states continue to stand firmly with Ukraine.
Responding to criticism of Washington’s proposal, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said, “Either they misunderstand the framework of the agreement, or they are misrepresenting some crucial realities.”
Differences among G20 nations over Russia’s peace proposal were evident during the summit, highlighting the ongoing divide over how the conflict should be resolved.
