Following several military strikes on Venezuela, US president Donald Trump claims that the Venezuela president, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife have been “captured and flown out of the country”. In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump wrote, "The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country. This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. "

He also added that he will hold a News Conference at 11 A.M, US time, at Mar-a-Lago.

It has been reported earlier that explosions, loud noises and low-flying aircraft were heard in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas in the early hours of Saturday.

The explosions come amid growing tensions between Venezuela and the US. The US President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned Venezuela of land operations in the Country, amid efforts to pressure President Nicolas Maduro to leave office. Trump has continuously issued threats and warnings to Maduro, who has been leading Venezuela since 2013. Meanwhile, U.S. officials have called him an illegitimate leader and have accused him of controlling criminal groups tied to drug trafficking, charges he denies. US State department has branded him as the head of a 'narco-terrorist' state.

Following the attack, Venezuela has declared a state of external disturbance.
