Beirut: Israeli air and ground attacks in Lebanon intensified on Saturday, leaving at least 41 people dead in the village of Nabi Chit in the eastern Bekaa Valley, according to local reports. Around 40 others were injured in the early-morning strikes.

The escalating violence has triggered a large displacement, with an estimated 300,000 residents fleeing the area. Officials say 294 people have been killed over the past six days as the conflict continues to intensify.

The Israel Defense Forces has also ordered the evacuation of six buildings in the southern coastal city of Tyre, claiming the locations were being used by Hezbollah.

Israeli forces reportedly carried out strikes on Hezbollah command centres in the Majdal Selm area. Israel has also launched search operations in eastern Lebanon related to the case of Ron Arad, who disappeared in 1986.

Hezbollah said its fighters confronted Israeli commandos who allegedly landed by helicopter near Nabi Chit. The group claimed the Israeli forces retreated after an exchange of fire. Israel has also continued rocket and missile strikes targeting military facilities.

Heavy Bombing Continues in Iran

Meanwhile, the joint military offensive by the United States and Israel against Iran entered its ninth day, with heavy bombardment reported in Tehran and Isfahan.

Reports indicate that the death toll has reached 1,332, with tens of thousands injured and millions displaced. The United States Central Command said it had struck more than 3,000 targets across Iran, including military installations and infrastructure. Iranian sources said 43 naval vessels were also targeted.

According to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, the bombardment destroyed 5,535 homes and more than 1,000 commercial establishments. At least 14 medical centres and 65 schools were also damaged.

Internet services have been largely cut off and the stock exchange closed indefinitely, further disrupting daily life. Iran’s intelligence ministry warned that anyone filming or sharing footage of the destruction could face charges of treason.

Protests also erupted in several cities, with demonstrators condemning the United States and Israel.

Iran Intensifies Missile Strikes on Israel

In response, Iran launched missile attacks targeting several locations in Israel, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Beersheba, and the Negev Desert.

The attacks reportedly challenged Israel’s air defence systems, with several residential buildings sustaining damage. Israeli authorities have not released official casualty figures.

An Israeli military spokesperson warned that Iran would face a “heavy price” for the strikes. The Israel Defense Forces also advised residents in affected areas to remain in protected shelters as tensions continue to escalate.
