Fresh Clashes Reported Near Venezuelan Presidential Palace Amid Political Turmoil

Caracus: Gunfire and drone presence were reported near the presidential palace in Caracus, according to media reports. The latest assault occurred just hours after Delcy Rodriguez was sworn in as Venezuela’s interim president. Videos of the attack that took place inear the presidential residence have been shared on social media by local residents. The footage captures the sounds of explosions and gunfire.
However, authorities informed that the situation was under control, even as drones were spotted over the presidential palace.
Meanwhile, the US said it was “not involved” in the recent clashes, with a White House official telling CNN that authorities were closely monitoring reports of gunfire.
Following the US' illegal military strike and abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez was declared interim president by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Delcy Rodriguez, popularly known as “Tiger,” is regarded as a frontline leader in resisting imperialist and right-wing attacks. She currently serves as Vice President as well as Minister of Finance and Oil.
At the same time, Nicolas Maduro, appearing before the Manhattan Federal Court in New York, stated that he would not surrender or bow down. He said he had committed no crime, asserted that he remains the President of Venezuela, and described himself as a prisoner of war. Maduro told the court that he was arrested from inside a room in his own residence and reiterated his innocence. His wife, Cilia Flores, also denied the charges. The court has adjourned the case to March 17.
