China Promises Humanitarian Aid to Iran, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq

Beijing: China has decided to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian.
“The ongoing conflict has caused unbearable humanitarian disasters for people in Iran and other countries in the region. China expresses deep sympathy and heartfelt condolences to those affected,” Lin said at a press conference. He added that China would make every effort to promote peace, encourage a ceasefire, restore regional stability as soon as possible, and prevent the further spread of the humanitarian crisis.
Earlier, the United States had sought assistance from China and its allies to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and normalize maritime traffic. However, China responded by calling for a complete halt to military actions by both the United States and Israel, while strongly criticizing what it described as aggression by the two nations.
China has also reiterated that it firmly opposes interference in the internal affairs of other countries, regardless of the justification. Regarding developments in Iran, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that decisions such as the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as a new top leader are internal matters and that the country’s sovereignty must be respected. This position was conveyed by another Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Guo Jiakun, following statements by the United States and Israel rejecting such a move.
Despite these differences, the United States later approached China again for assistance regarding the Hormuz situation, as its efforts to mobilize international naval support and send warships to the region failed to gain sufficient backing from other countries.
