Kottur: A five-month-old child from Uttar Pradesh, diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, has been successfully treated under Kerala's Hridyam scheme. The baby, Ramraj, was diagnosed with Tricuspid Atresia, a condition that affects the heart’s ability to pump blood properly.

Ramraj's parents, Ruchi and Shishupal, who are originally from Dhanour, Uttar Pradesh, had recently moved to Kottur in search of better opportunities. Upon diagnosis, the child’s condition required immediate medical attention, and Kerala’s Health Department quickly intervened to provide the necessary care.

Ramraj was referred to a government hospital in Kozhikode, where he received free heart surgery as part of the Hridyam scheme, which aims to provide heart surgeries to children in need, regardless of their financial background.

Veena George, Kerala’s Health Minister, spoke with the parents via video call, expressing her happiness about the child’s recovery. The Minister also acknowledged the support provided by the healthcare workers involved in Ramraj’s treatment.

Dr. Rahul, the Child Health Nodal Officer, visited the family in Kottur to check on the baby’s progress. He confirmed that Ramraj is now fully recovered and in good health.

The Hridyam scheme, launched by the Kerala government, has been instrumental in offering free heart surgeries for children with congenital heart conditions, ensuring access to life-saving treatments for families who might otherwise not afford them.

Ramraj's parents thanked the Kerala government for the timely intervention and the free medical care their child received. They expressed their gratitude for the support they received during a challenging time.
