Woman Killed in Brutal Assault by Husband in Telangana’s Vikarabad

Vikarabad: A 22-year-old woman was killed after being brutally assaulted by her husband following a domestic dispute in Telangana’s Vikarabad district. The victim, identified as Anusha, succumbed to severe injuries, police said. The incident came to light after CCTV footage of the assault surfaced.

According to police, Anusha had married Paramesh Kumar (28) about eight months ago. The couple, who were in a relationship before marriage, reportedly had frequent disputes after the wedding, allegedly over dowry-related issues.

Two days before the incident, Anusha had gone to her parental home following an argument. Paramesh later assured her family that there would be no further disputes and brought her back to their residence. However, another altercation broke out soon after their return.

CCTV visuals show the couple riding through a village on a motorcycle before stopping in front of a house. Anusha is seen getting off the vehicle and walking towards the house, appearing to limp. Paramesh is then seen grabbing her jacket from behind, pulling her back and pushing her towards the parked motorcycle. She later sits on the porch of the house.

Police said Paramesh took the house key from a woman living nearby and demanded that Anusha unlock the door, pulling her first by the neck and then by the arm. When Anusha threw the key away, he allegedly launched a violent assault.

The CCTV footage shows Paramesh slapping Anusha, kicking her in the abdomen and later striking her on the head more than six times with a wooden log. A neighbour attempted to intervene and stop the attack, but the assault continued.

Anusha suffered critical injuries and was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Based on a complaint filed by Anusha’s brother, police have registered a case against Paramesh and his mother. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway, police said.
