Tamil Superstar Suriya Pays Last Respects to Sreenivasan at His Residence

Kochi: Tamil superstar Suriya paid his final respects to beloved Malayalam actor, director and screenwriter Sreenivasan at his residence in Kandanad, Udayamperoor. Expressing deep shock over Sreenivasan’s demise, Suriya said he had always admired the veteran actor and considered him one of his favourites.
“I have always looked up to Sreenivasan with great admiration. When I heard about his passing, I strongly felt the need to come and see him one last time,” Suriya said.
Sreenivasan’s funeral will be held today at 10 am at the courtyard of his residence in Kandanad, with official state honours. He passed away at around 8.30 am on Saturday at the Tripunithura Taluk Hospital after undergoing treatment for various ailments for some time.
On Saturday morning around 11 am, Sreenivasan’s mortal remains were brought to his residence ‘Palazhi’ on the Kandanad–Vattukunnu Road. By noon, the body was taken to the Ernakulam Town Hall for public homage. Though the public viewing was scheduled till 3 pm, it was extended till 3.45 pm due to the overwhelming turnout. The body was later taken back to his residence.
Thousands of admirers, along with members of the film fraternity and the general public, have been arriving to pay their last respects to the iconic artist, whose contribution to Malayalam cinema remains unparalleled.
