Asian Games 2026: India’s Women's Team Reach Table Tennis Quarterfinals; Set to Face North Korea

Nagoya: India's women's table tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Asian Games 2026 after defeating Thailand in their final Group F tie in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Tuesday. India entered the table tennis women’s team quarterfinals after a hard-fought 3-2 win over Thailand

India will next face North Korea in the last eight as they look to build on their group-stage form. The team's run so far has been built on consistent performances, with all three of India's group matches producing straight-game wins across the singles rubbers.

The women's team is part of India's 10-member table tennis contingent at these Games, which also includes Manav Thakkar, Manush Shah, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Harmeet Desai. Table tennis is contesting seven gold medals at Aichi-Nagoya 2026, spanning men's and women's singles, doubles and team events, along with mixed doubles, with the team competitions opening the schedule before individual events take over. The final medal events across all table tennis categories are scheduled for September 28.

India's campaign at the Asian Games has also seen strong performances across other disciplines this week, including a positive showing in shooting and kabaddi, as the country continues to build its overall medal tally at the Games.
