Palakkad: The cache of explosives seized from the residence of RSS cadre Suresh Kumar in Kallekkad was produced before the court today. The explosives, along with detonators and a dynamo box, had been recovered during a police raid last week.
The police will await a court order to hand over the seized materials to the bomb squad for defusing and forensic examination. Once defused, forensic experts will analyze samples to determine the exact composition of the explosives used. Authorities will then compare the forensic results with explosives recovered earlier from an RSS-controlled school in Vadakkanthara, where a blast injured three people on August 20. This comparison will aim to establish whether the same group was involved in both incidents.
Meanwhile, the police will seek custody of the accused — Suresh Kumar, Naushad, and Fazil — who are currently in remand, for detailed interrogation. The application for custody will be submitted to the Palakkad Sessions Court.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the string of explosions in Palakkad, and it will focus on identifying the source of the explosives and possible links between the accused and other incidents in the district.
Police officials have indicated that investigations will also look into reports that some of the accused were near the school premises shortly before the blast, which could strengthen the case against them. Further updates are expected following the forensic examination and court proceedings.
