Nilambur Among Six Seats to Go for Bypolls on June 19

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has announced that the Nilambur Assembly bypoll in Kerala will be held on June 19, along with by-elections in five other constituencies across Gujarat, Punjab, and West Bengal. Counting of votes for all six constituencies will take place on June 23.
The Nilambur bypoll was necessitated following the resignation of P V Anvar in January. In Gujarat, bypolls will be conducted in Kadi, due to the death of BJP MLA Karsanbhai Punjabhai Solanki, and in Visavadar, which fell vacant after the resignation of Bhayani Bhupendrabhai Gandubhai.
In Punjab, the Ludhiana West seat became vacant following the death of Congress MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi in January. In West Bengal, the Kaliganj constituency will go to bypoll following the death of TMC MLA Nasiruddin Ahamed due to cardiac arrest in February.
The gazette notification for the elections will be issued on May 26. The last date for filing nominations is June 2, scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 3, and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is June 5.
