Thiruvananthapuram: A 19- year -old youth, Alan, was stabbed to death on Monday evening following a clash over a football dispute near Thycaud Shasta Temple. Alan, a resident of Nettayam currently living at D 47, Rajaji Nagar, was rushed to the General Hospital by friends but was declared dead on arrival.

Police have taken three youths into custody in connection with the incident. Preliminary investigations indicate that one of them carried out the stabbing. Sources say the assailants came with the intention to target Alan. The group reportedly consisted of six individuals, and searches for the remaining members are underway. CCTV footage is also being examined.

According to reports, the incident escalated from an ongoing feud between two local football teams. About a month ago, a dispute between these teams had led to physical altercations, involving some criminal elements. On Monday, both groups gathered near Thycaud to resolve the matter, with Alan accompanying his group. During a heated argument, Alan was stabbed in the chest. Witnesses said he fell screaming, and bystanders noticed blood pouring from his chest. The knife pierced upward, reportedly cutting the aorta, resulting in instant death.

Alan had partially completed his Plus Two studies before travelling to Maharashtra for religious studies and had returned home recently. He is survived by his mother, Manjula; his sister, Andrea, had passed away a year ago.

The local police are investigating the incident and have appealed for public cooperation in tracking down the remaining suspects.
