Bodies of Kottarakkara Couple Killed in Vietnam Boat Tragedy Reach Thiruvananthapuram

Bodies of A C Thomas (57) and his wife Loveni Thomas (56), who died in the Vietnam boat accident was brought to Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday
Thiruvananthapuram: The mortal remains of the malayali couple who died in the tragic boat accident in Vietnam were brought to the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as A C Thomas (57) and his wife Loveni Thomas (56), residents of Kottarakkara.
On behalf of the Keralam government, Minister P C Vishnunath received the bodies at the airport. Kodikunnil Suresh MP was also present. After completing the required formalities at the airport, the bodies were transported by ambulance to the couple's residence in Kottarakkara.
The accident occurred near the popular tourist destination of Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. The speedboat, which had departed from Hon May Rut Ngoi Island in southern Phu Quoc for An Thoi Port, reportedly lost control and capsized within minutes of setting sail.
There were 36 people on board at the time of the accident, including 32 Indian tourists. Fifteen Indians lost their lives in the tragedy.
Meanwhile, police in Vietnam's An Giang province have arrested the captain of the speedboat involved in the accident after finding that he had allegedly committed serious legal violations and lapses that led to the disaster.
