V D Satheeshan Sparks Outrage Calling Congress Workers “Oglers”

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader V D Satheeshan’s recent public performance has gone viral, thanks to a little gem of a video where he generously decided to grade Congress workers. In his own words, "Evanokke vaayinokkikaḷ' – loosely, "These people are nothing but oglers.' Naturally, this has caused quite a stir, even within his own party.

The clip, recorded while he made his dramatic exit from a Legislative Assembly boycott, has social media buzzing with guesses about whom exactly he had in mind. Some posts cheekily suggest Rahul Mamkoottathil and a few others might have earned the dubious honour of being labelled “sycophants,” prompting endless speculation about which unlucky MLA caught Satheeshan’s sharp eye.

Former Congress leader and now BJP member Padmaja Venugopal didn’t miss a beat, commenting on Facebook: “Just this one video is enough to understand how current Congress leaders perceive their cadres. Calling hardworking party volunteers ‘oglers’ in public is one way to really wound their self-respect. After all, the poor souls who carry boxes and chant slogans for their leader clearly need a reminder of their ‘place’ in the universe.”
