MDMA Case: CM V D Satheesan Admits Knowing Accused Muhammad Hussain Personally

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister V D Satheesan has admitted that he personally knows the Congress workers arrested with drugs at Kallikkadavu in Kasaragod. Responding to a question about the MDMA case at a press conference, Satheesan acknowledged that he knew arrested accused Muhammad Hussain personally. He said he had visited Hussain’s house and that Hussain had also visited his residence.

“I know those who were arrested personally. Muhammad Hussain is a Youth Congress worker. I know him personally. I have spoken to him several times over the phone. Once, when we were speaking, he said that he would visit my house sometime. Later, when I went to an event, I visited his house. When he was injured, I called him to enquire about his well-being. I met him several times after that,” Satheesan said.

However, there is also an inconsistency in Satheesan’s explanation. He said he had visited Hussain to enquire about his well-being after he sustained an injury. But a video shared by Hussain does not show any injuries.

Satheesan’s statement that he knew Hussain has also undermined the Youth Congress’ claim that Hussain was not one of its office-bearers. Ernakulam DCC president Mohammed Shiyas had earlier justified the position that Muhammad Hussain was not a Youth Congress office-bearer. However, district president Sijo Joseph said Hussain had been removed from the primary membership of the Youth Congress as well as from other responsibilities.

Muhammad Hussain was the Chief Minister’s social media coordinator and a Youth Congress booth office-bearer. However, Satheesan denied that Hussain was part of his PR team. Saying that he did not have a PR team, Satheesan, after further questions from journalists, ended his response by saying, “If each person becomes a member of something or the other, what can we do?”
