Sabarimala Gold Theft Case Primary Accused Unnikrishnan Potty Linked to Karnataka BJP Leaders

Thiruvananthapuram: Unnikrishnan Potty, the prime accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case, is reported to have close associations with the BJP leaders in Karnataka. Photographs have surfaced showing Potty with senior BJP leaders, including former Karnataka Chief Minister and Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Ashwath Narayan.
According to reports, Unnikrishnan Potty attended the Golden Gate dedication ceremony held at the Jalahalli Ayyappa Temple in Bengaluru in January 2020, alongside BJP leaders. Earlier, photographs of Potty with Congress leaders, including Senior leader Sonia Gandhi and UDF convener and MP Adoor Prakash, had also emerged.

Recently, images were released showing Adoor Prakash arriving at Sabarimala to inaugurate the 'Annadana Sadhya' sponsored by Unnikrishnan Potty. Previous photographs highlighting Prakash’s association with Potty and his associates had already circulated. However, Adoor Prakash clarified that his relationship with Potty was purely casual.
On January 27, 2024, Adoor Prakash shared photographs with Unnikrishnan Potty on Facebook of them attending a public event, describing him as an Ayyappa devotee from Bengaluru. The images also showed him handing over the keys to houses constructed by Unnikrishnan Potty along with Raghavendra and Ramesh, both based in Bengaluru.
