Timely Reforms Planned for Examination System: Minister V. Shivankutty

Thiruvananthapuram: As part of transforming public education into centres of excellence, timely changes will be made in the examination system and assessment methods, said Education Minister V. Shivankutty. He was speaking after inaugurating the new headquarters of the Samagra Shiksha Keralam (SSK) state office in Thiruvananthapuram.

The minister clarified that it is essential to change the assessment system in line with modern educational methods and that changes will also be made in the way children’s creativity and extracurricular achievements are considered. He pointed out that the centrally sponsored scheme Samagra Shiksha Keralam has not received the due central allocation for the last three years, and the state is due to receive approximately Rs 2,000 crore in this regard.

The new headquarters of SSK is located at the Chala Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School compound. Director of General Education NSK Umesh presided over the function.

District Panchayat President V. Priyadarshini, SCERT Director Dr. R. K. Jayaprakash, State Planning Board Member Mini Sukumar, SIT Director Dr. B. Anuraj, SRC Director Dr. P. Pramod, SCOL Kerala Executive Director Shibu R. S., and Additional State Project Directors Shinemon and M. K. Srika took part in the function.
