DYFI Youth Brigade Cleans Damaged Homes After Thrissur Fireworks Blast

Thrissur: The DYFI Youth Brigade has stepped in to help clean up approximately 50 homes in the half-kilometre radius around the Mundathikode fireworks disaster site, all of which sustained significant damage from the force of Tuesday's explosion. Window panes were shattered across every house in the vicinity, doors were blown off their hinges, and roof tiles caved in and collapsed — prompting the DYFI to mobilise a clean-up operation for the affected residents.

The Youth Brigade has been continuously present at the disaster site since Tuesday night, having previously provided food, drinking water, and watermelon to hospital staff, government officials, police, fire force personnel, volunteers, and media workers who have been on continuous duty through the night.

The DYFI's two-pronged response — providing sustenance to rescue workers at the blast site and now turning to restoring the homes of affected residents — reflects the organisation's sustained community presence in the aftermath of one of the worst fireworks tragedies in Kerala's recent memory.
