Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat has sharply criticised AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal. Brinda mocked Venugopal, saying that those who handed over their party's MP position to the BJP are the ones now raising 'deal' allegations against the left. She was responding to Venugopal's claim that there is a collaboration between CPI(M) and BJP in Kerala.

Brinda was speaking at an election rally in Kattakkada constituency, where she also pointed out the historical evidence of Congress’s ties with the BJP. She highlighted the fact that, during the last Rajya Sabha elections, 11 Congress MLAs voted for the BJP. She questioned whom this was benefiting. She further pointed out that BJP came to power in a municipal corporation in Kerala when Congress votes dramatically reduced, and those votes were essentially handed over to the BJP by Congress itself.

Brinda also stated that Narendra Modi and RSS have never accepted the Indian Constitution, and their guiding principle is Manusmriti. She added that the Left is unwavering in its fight against the BJP, which is attempting to undermine the country’s secularism.

She also emphasised that the people of Kerala are well aware of the governance achievements of the LDF government and its women's security initiatives. She urged the public to elect I.B. Satheesh with a massive majority for the continuation of development. Finally, she stressed that the real issue Kerala needs to discuss is the internal alliance between the UDF and BJP.
