'Comrade of the People': Tamil Translation of K K Shailaja’s Autobiography Launched in Chennai

Chennai: The Tamil translation of former Health Minister K K Shailaja’s autobiography, My Life as a Comrade: The Story of an Extraordinary Politician and the World That Shaped Her, titled Makkalin Thozhar, was unveiled on December 17 (Wednesday) at the Chennai Institute of Journalism in Kotturpuram.

The event was jointly organised by Prakriti Foundation, Chennai Institute of Journalism, and Kalachuvad Publications.


CPI M Politburo member K Balakrishnan released the book, and the first copy was presented to Justice (Retd.) Prabha Sreedevan.


Following the launch, a 'Conversation with the Author' session was held, featuring Dr. Nalini Krishnan, Executive Secretary and Co-founder of REACH, and Ranveer Shah, founder and trustee of Prakriti Foundation. Shailaja recounted her experiences as a minister in the public health sector and highlighted the significance of people-centric governance.


The event saw a large turnout, including media professionals, education experts, students, and writers.
