Two Tamil Nadu Fishing Boats Seized for Illegal Fishing Off Kerala Coast Near Vizhinjam

Thiruvananthapuram: Two fishing boats belonging to fishermen from Tamil Nadu were seized by a Fisheries Department patroling team for carrying out fishing activities without proper documentation off the Kerala coast. The fishing was taking place within seven kilometres of Vizhinjam. The violation came to light after officials grew suspicious and conducted an inspection, which revealed that the fishermen did not possess the required documents. The boats were subsequently taken into custody.


The seized vessels include a trawler owned by Sebastian, a native of Rameswaram, and another trawler owned by Antony from Ramanathapuram, both in Tamil Nadu.


The patrol team comprised Civil Police Officer Anil Kumar A and lifeguards Robert, Johnny, Jinu, Banansius, Davidson Antony, Alikann, Hassan Kannu, and Imamudheen.
