'Always Affection for Pinarayi,' Says Writer T Padmanabhan

Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned Malayalam writer T Padmanabhan has said that his feelings toward Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan are rooted in affection and respect, and not fear. He was speaking at a discussion on the book “Pavithram Padmanabham” written by V S Rajesh, held as part of the Kerala Legislative Assembly International Book Festival.
Responding to a question on claims that writers are afraid to criticise Pinarayi Vijayan, Padmanabhan said that those who are afraid will fear anyone, and that he does not agree with such a view. He said he shares a close personal bond with the Chief Minister and has travelled with him on several occasions.
Padmanabhan added that he has eaten food at the home of only one Chief Minister, and that was Pinarayi Vijayan’s residence. He also said that former Chief Minister A K Antony is a close friend of his, but interestingly remarked that he does not even know where Antony’s house is located.
The writer clarified that he has never written for rewards. He also announced that his new short story titled “Sathyam Aarkku Ariyaam” (Who Knows the Truth) will be released soon as a New Year gift.
Padmanabhan noted that had he not become a writer, he might have turned into a full-time political activist. The book “Pavithram Padmanabham” has been published by Chintha Publishers.
