Thiruvananthapuram: The Railways has taken a neglectful stance towards Sreekutti, who was attacked during a train journey, Minister V Sivankutty has alleged. The Minister visited Sreekutti, who remains in the ICU at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, and later met her family members.

According to the Minister, the state government is ensuring treatment under the supervision of the hospital superintendent, considering the family’s financial hardship. In contrast, he said, the Railways has shown indifference, offering no meaningful support beyond assigning a police officer to look into the incident.

Sivankutty said he will write to the Railway Minister urging the Union Government and railway authorities to take the issue seriously and provide necessary assistance. The visit, he added, was to understand the family’s concerns and to review what support has been provided so far. He also held discussions with doctors regarding her condition.

The Minister expressed disappointment that MPs Shashi Tharoor and Adoor Prakash had neither visited nor raised the matter with the Union Government.

MLAs V Joy and Kadakampally Surendran, along with CPI M district secretariat members S Pushpalatha and K S Sunil Kumar, were also present.
