Alappuzha: Spanish tourist Veronica has lauded Kerala’s public healthcare system, sharing her experience at Alappuzha District General Hospital on Instagram.
She expressed amazement at receiving specialist doctor services within just ten minutes. “In my country, Spain, it takes eight months to see a dermatologist. But here, I registered at the hospital and saw the doctor within ten minutes. I never imagined getting such prompt and quality service at a government hospital,” Veronica said in a video. She visited the hospital in the new year seeking treatment for a facial scar.
Veronica was treated by dermatologist Dr. V Bindu and also received free medication from the hospital pharmacy. The reel shared under her Instagram handle ‘veronicamancha_’ has already been viewed by over 250,000 people.
Many commenters noted that this kind of experience in Kerala’s government hospitals should not be expected in other Indian states.
Veronica, who has been travelling across various states in India for the past year, called Kerala’s healthcare model a world-class example. Health Minister Veena George also shared the video on social media.
