Thiruvananthapuram: LDF convener T P Ramakrishnan has said that the SIT investigation into the Sabarimala gold theft case is an independent inquiry. Both the government and the LDF are committed to recovering the gold stolen from Sabarimala. He emphasised that no one involved in the crime should be allowed to escape, and all offenders must be brought to justice and punished. The High Court has expressed satisfaction with the SIT-led investigation, and the government will not interfere in the process. The LDF’s stance is to cooperate fully to strengthen the investigation.

Ramakrishnan also stated that the LDF will not attempt to shield anyone in the case. He stressed that being in SIT custody does not automatically imply guilt and that all relevant details will emerge during the investigation. According to him, there has been an organised campaign to portray left-wing leaders as untrustworthy and hostile to Sabarimala.

He further said that the circumstances leading to the arrest of the strategist should be made public, suggesting that the arrest may have resulted from certain lapses identified during the investigation. “The government has no obligation to protect anyone. The investigation should reveal the truth,” he added.

Ramakrishnan also called for a probe into how Unnikrishnan Potty managed to get close to senior Congress leaders who are under heavy security. Other Congress leaders were present as well. While those accompanying him reportedly had no involvement, it is necessary to examine who facilitated his access to senior leaders, how it happened, and the intentions behind it, he said.
