Pathanamthitta: In the Sabarimala gold theft case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has continued its inquiry into the financial dealings of Thantri Kandararu Rajeevaru, as part of efforts to uncover the conspiracy behind the incident.

The investigation is examining whether the Thantri had financial links with the main accused and if he had any role in the planning of the theft at Sabarimala Sannidhanam. Investigators have said the inquiry is based on indications of his close association with Unnikrishnan Potti and others who were earlier arrested in the case.

As part of the probe, the SIT is examining detailed records of transactions linked to the bank accounts of the accused. The bank accounts of Thantri and his family members have also been brought under the investigation team’s watch, officials said.

As part of the ongoing probe, the SIT is checking records of transactions related to the accused. The bank accounts of the Thantri and his family members remain under the observation of the investigation team.

Investigators are checking whether any unusual or unexplained money transfers took place during the period when the gold theft occurred. The Thantri is likely to be questioned again in the coming days as the probe progresses. The SIT is also re-examining earlier statements given in the case, particularly to identify contradictions.

While attempts to recover the stolen gold are continuing, investigators are tracing the financial trail linked to the crime, with a focus on where the money from the sale of the stolen gold went.

Amid claims that persons from political and social circles may be connected to the case, investigators say the inquiry into the Thantri’s role is important to fully establish the conspiracy behind the Sabarimala gold theft.
