Shahanas Removed From KPCC WhatsApp Group After Allegations Against Rahul Mankootathil

Kozhikode: M.A. Shahanas, General Secretary of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee’s (KPCC) Cultural Society, was removed from the organisation’s official WhatsApp group shortly after she publicly stated that she had earlier complained to MP Shafi Parambil about the misconduct of Congress MLA Rahul Mankootathil.
On Wednesday, Shahanas revealed that Shafi Parambil had been informed well in advance about Rahul Mankootathil’s inappropriate behaviour towards her and other women. She alleged that the MP ignored the complaints and continued to support Mankootathil’s rise within the party.
Shahanas said she had specifically urged Shafi not to appoint Mankootathil as the Youth Congress State President and told him that she too had faced misbehaviour from the MLA. However, her concerns were met with sarcasm and dismissed outright, she alleged.
Recounting her experience, Shahanas said Rahul had sent her an inappropriate message after she returned from participating in the farmers’ protest in Delhi. The message read, “We could have gone to Delhi together.” She initially believed he was referring to group travel with other Youth Congress members, but later realised he was suggesting that she accompany him alone. She said she rejected the message.
Shahanas also claimed she has evidence to support her statements. Her disclosures come at a time when Rahul Mankootathil is already facing a fresh sexual harassment complaint, increasing pressure on the Congress leadership.
Following her revelations, Shahanas was removed from the KPCC Cultural Society’s Kozhikode district WhatsApp group on Thursday morning.
