SFI Sweeps Calicut University Departmental Elections

Thenjippalam: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) achieved a resounding victory in the Calicut University Departmental Students’ Union elections, securing all seats with overwhelming majorities of more than a thousand votes.
The elections, initially held on October 10, had been disrupted by UDSF supporters through violence. Following the High Court’s directive for a re-election, voting was conducted afresh, resulting in a clean sweep for SFI. Facing inevitable defeat, the UDSF boycotted the polls.
T V Amar Dev, a third- semester postgraduate student from the Department of English, was elected Chairperson, while P Rizwana Sherin, a third- semester Statistics student, became Vice Chairperson. K Sabah Tanveer, from the first- semester Folklore programme, was elected Secretary.
The post of Joint Secretary went to G Gopika, a first- semester Hindi student, and K J Sreekala, a third- semester Politics student, was chosen as Fine Arts Secretary. J Nayana, from the first -semester Malayalam department, was elected Chief Student Editor, and K T Hathif became General Captain.
The University Union Councillors elected were K N Noufal, a first- semester Philosophy student, and P U Riju Krishnan, a third-semester M.Com student.
