Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader V D Satheeshan on Monday struggled to give clear answers to media queries on the allegations against Rahul Mamkoottathil. When asked why the MLA has not resigned, he sidestepped the question, instead claiming that this was the first time a political party had taken such an adamant stand in a case of this nature. He noted that no complaints or evidence had been received, yet within 24 hours Rahul resigned from the Youth Congress president’s post.

Pressed further on Rahul’s Assembly membership, Satheeshan remarked, “Has anyone said Rahul Mamkoottathil will resign?” He added that the party acted firmly out of respect for women, as their dignity had been compromised. However, his remarks appeared contradictory, given his repeated insistence that no complaint or evidence existed.

Journalists also questioned why the KPCC insisted on a formal complaint when women had already spoken publicly against Rahul. Satheeshan avoided a direct response and instead pointed to other political parties where members continued in office despite FIRs being registered against them.

On the issue of cyberattacks targeting Uma Thomas and Sneha Harippad, Satheeshan stopped short of condemning the incidents, blaming the CPI M for creating such a “political culture.”

When asked about Rini’s complaint reportedly submitted to him, Satheeshan brushed aside the question, saying the matter had already been clarified and there was “no need to indulge in it further.”
