Sasthamkotta Police Assault: 23-Year-Old Alleges Brutal Torture

Kollam: A 23-year-old man from Adoor has alleged that he was brutally assaulted by police in Sasthamkotta, Kollam. A medical report indicates that the young man is suffering from serious health problems following the alleged police assault.

The incident that forms the basis of the complaint took place on May 29. Police had registered a POCSO case against the young man's elder brother based on a complaint filed by a 15-year-old girl from Kunnathur taluk. Police officers from Sasthamkotta station who arrived to investigate the case allegedly took the young man away in a car and assaulted him.

The complaint states that he was subjected to brutal treatment inside the car for several hours. It also alleges that the police officers severely injured his genitals during the assault.

The complainant says he received no justice despite submitting complaints to senior police officials, including the Sasthamkotta Deputy Superintendent of Police. He also alleges that police officers attempted to dissuade him from pursuing the complaint.

His family has now submitted complaints to the Director General of Police and the Chief Minister.
