Sabarimala Ghee Sales Scam: Rs 21 Lakh Irregularities Detected

Kochi: Vigilance informed the High Court that financial irregularities amounting to more than Rs 21 lakh were detected in the sale of ghee at Sabarimala from November 16 to December 31, 2025. The Devaswom Bench, comprising Justice V. Raja Vijayaraghavan and Justice K. V. Jayakumar, directed that the investigation be completed within 45 days.
The matter is being considered based on a suo motu petition initiated following a report filed by the Sabarimala Special Commissioner, which was based on a preliminary inspection conducted by the Devaswom Chief Vigilance and Security Officer regarding the ghee sales. Vigilance SP H. Mahesh, the investigating officer, and other officials appeared directly before the court.
In the case, out of a total of 33 accused, 30 are priests , and three are temple Special Officers. The court directed the Travancore Devaswom Board to establish a proper accounting system to prevent such frauds from recurring. The case will be considered again on the 27th.
