Rs 73.50 crore additionally allocated to KSRTC: K. N. Balagopal

Thiruvananthapuram: Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal announced that the government has allocated an additional Rs 73.50 crore for pension distribution in KSRTC. The amount will be provided as a monthly installment for pension payments.

This financial year, the government has provided Rs 1,399 crore as assistance to KSRTC, of which Rs 879 crore was allocated for pension distribution and Rs 520 crore as special assistance. An additional Rs 499 crore has been provided over and above the Rs 900 crore allocated for the corporation in this year’s budget.

During the second Pinarayi government, Rs 8,619 crore has been provided to KSRTC so far. By adding the Rs 5,002 crore given during the first Pinarayi government, the total assistance amounts to Rs 13,621 crore.

The Finance Minister pointed out that during the five-year tenure of the previous UDF government, only Rs 1,467 crore was provided as aid.
