Real Kerala Story' of Survival; Chief Minister Cordially Invites to Mundakkai Township Inauguration

Kalpatta: As part of the first phase of the township being prepared by the government for the survivors of the Mundakkai disaster, 178 houses are set to be inaugurated on February 25. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has cordially invited those who participated in the rescue operations and those who provided assistance for the rehabilitation to witness this historic moment. On his social media, the Chief Minister posted that he hopes everyone will reach Kalpetta Elson Estate on that day. This real Kerala story of our collective survival will stand as a great example to the world.

The landslide disaster that shook the entire nation and plunged it into grief occurred on July 30, 2024, in the Mundakkai-Chooralmala area. In the dead of night, when darkness prevailed, the nation first heard the devastating news of lives buried beneath the earth. In that great calamity, the nation came together to support those who had lost everything. Ministers, public representatives, health workers, military personnel, volunteers, organisation workers, sanitation workers, and people from various sectors participated in rescue operations in an unparalleled way, helping the nation survive the first days of the disaster.

Following this, the LDF government promised to ensure world-class rehabilitation for those who lost their homes and means of livelihood. Rehabilitation of the survivors of this great calamity is now becoming a reality. The inauguration of the township and the distribution of deeds to beneficiaries will be carried out by the Chief Minister on the 25th.
