Rain Likely to Continue in Kerala; Yellow Alert in Four Districts Tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: Isolated thunderstorms accompanied by rain are likely in parts of Kerala today, the Central Meteorological Department has said. While no weather warnings are currently in effect for today, a yellow alert has been issued for four districts tomorrow (December 3). The alert applies to Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Idukki, where isolated heavy rainfall is expected. Forecasts suggest precipitation levels between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within a 24-hour period.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka continues to grapple with severe devastation and hardship triggered by Cyclone Ditwa. Reports indicate that over 390 people have lost their lives due to floods and landslides, while more than 350 individuals remain missing.
The effects of Cyclone Ditwa have also extended to Tamil Nadu, where heavy rainfall persists across various regions. The Meteorological Department stated that the deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal, near the north Tamil Nadu–Puducherry coast, is driving the ongoing downpour. Flood warnings have been issued for Chennai and Tiruvallur as a precautionary measure.
