Party Chose Him for Public Service, Not Misconduct; Rahul Faces Stern Action: K. Muraleedharan

Thiruvananthapuram: With multiple allegations of sexual harassment, rape, and forced abortion continuing to surface against Congress MLA Rahul Mankootathil, the KPCC is preparing to intensify disciplinary action. The party entrusted Rahul with the responsibility to serve the people, not to misuse his position, senior Congress leader K. Muraleedharan stated.
“The hidden wrongdoing is now fully exposed, and it’s time to take the strongest possible action against it,” Muraleedharan told reporters. He said he has already discussed the matter with KPCC President Sunny Joseph, and stressed that decisive steps will be taken shortly.
The survivor submitted an official complaint to the party president on Monday, which the KPCC later forwarded to the state DGP. Muraleedharan explained that, under normal circumstances, such complaints would be dealt with internally. However, since Rahul is currently under suspension, the complaint was directly referred to law enforcement. He reiterated that the party will take an appropriate decision in Rahul’s case.
According to the leadership’s assessment, there appears to be no scope for reconsideration. Whether Rahul should continue as an MLA is for him to decide, Muraleedharan added. “The smoldering coal is now exposed — and those still attached to it may also step aside,” he said.
