Kannur: Prominent South Indian actor Prakash Raj has said that Kerala stands as a green haven of development and fraternity at a time when injustice and inequality are spreading across the country. He was speaking at an event organised by Swaralaya in Mambad, Kannur.

Prakash Raj described Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan as the hope of South India for the past ten years. He added that Pinarayi Vijayan's courage in taking uncompromising positions against the erroneous policies of the central government deserves high praise.

The actor stressed that the nation needs leaders who take a firm stand against communalism, noting that it is the Chief Ministers of South India who have consistently adopted strong positions against communal forces. "We need Chief Ministers who are not afraid of the BJP," he said, adding that he wishes to see Pinarayi Vijayan continue as the Chief Minister for the next five years as well.

Prakash Raj delivered his emotional address before thousands of witnesses, with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan seated on the dais.

Noted writer T Padmanabhan, who also participated in the event, expressed his deep respect for the Chief Minister. "I am someone who has experienced the Chief Minister's warmth and friendship on many occasions. Had my vote been in the Dharmadam constituency, I would have cast it for Pinarayi Vijayan without a second thought," he said.

A video message from actor Kamal Haasan was screened at the function, which saw the participation of several prominent figures from the cultural world. Young rapper Vedan also performed at the event. A large number of leading personalities from the social and cultural spheres were present on the occasion.
