Poovar Congress Leader Arrested in Gold Theft Case

Kovalam: The Congress Poovar Mandalam President, Naushad (42), native of Thekke Theruv Thazhathe House, has been arrested by the Poovar Police for stealing 37 sovereigns of gold from the house of expatriate Shahjahan. He is the second accused in the case.
The theft took place on January 28 at Shahjahan’s residence. Police stated that Naushad has been involved in several theft cases in the past. Shahjahan, the expatriate victim, is a friend of Naushad.
According to the police, Naushad planned the robbery by summoning the first accused and making all necessary arrangements for him, including accommodation and food, after he arrived in Poovar. The theft was carried out when no one was present in the house.
After stealing the gold, Naushad and the first accused fled to Tamil Nadu. Naushad was later arrested in a secret operation conducted by the police. The search for the first accused still ongoing, and SHO Ratheesh stated that they expect to apprehend him soon.
The police team that arrested Naushad included SI Jose, CPO Ajith, Antony, and Sasi Narayanan.
